František Kupka

The Lipstick, 1908, c. 65.5 x 63.5 cm.

František Kupka was a Czech painter and graphic artist. He was a pioneer and co-founder of the early phases of the abstract art movement and orphic cubism (orphism). Kupka’s abstract works arose from a base of realism, but later evolved into pure abstract art.  In Lipstick his interest lies in representing the human body while he continues the evolution towards pure abstract art.

Every single piece is delicious. Riikka Sormunen is my hero.
